The Cultural Resources Council of Syracuse and Onondaga County is now accepting grant applications for the Community Arts Grants Program for the 2011 funding year. Funds are currently available through the New York State Council on the Arts' Decentralization Grant Program.

The Council's Community Arts Grants Program funds individual artists and non-profit organizations throughout Cortland, Onondaga and Oswego Counties. Through these programs the Council ensures the cultural vitality and vibrancy of neighborhoods, towns, villages and cities while supporting the work of local artists and organizations. The Council also provides technical assistance with other grant and fellowship opportunities.

Funds are available for all non-profit organizations, including service organizations and units of government, and individual artists in Onondaga, Oswego and Cortland Counties that wish to increase cultural awareness by presenting artistic and cultural events to benefit the public. All disciplines including, but not limited to, theater, dance, music, film, video, literature, visual arts, folk arts, historical and culturally specific events will be considered.

All applicants, past and new, must attend an information session before applying or schedule an appointment with the Director of Programs and Services. Applications will not be accepted if this requirement is not met. The information sessions are free and open to the public.
